Little French Vanity

A couple of months ago I found the cutest little oak table. It was the perfect size for an entry way table or a vanity table. I am confessing right now, I do not have before pictures of this cute little set.  I'm not sure how that keeps happening, but I promise to do better in the future. That being said, here is what I did with it:

I must also apologize for the poor photography.  I was on a tight schedule to deliver these. But here it is.  I love the curvy legs & petite size. I painted it DIY chalk paint in Duck Egg Blue.  Then I used one of my favorite graphics from The Graphics Fairy . Gave it a couple coats of wax & buffed it to perfection.

When it was all done I thought "This needs a chair."  Every vanity needs a chair, right? So, luckily I was able to find one at the Flea Market & painted it the same color:

Once again I used a Graphics Fairy graphic on the drop cloth seat cushion. Here they are together:

I really like the way they look together. The post card graphic is so fun to do & it is always a good seller. Especially when it is on a Duck Egg Blue piece. It's one of my favorite combinations. This set is available at V Trading in Grand Blanc, MI.

Do you have a favorite paint color & graphic combination? I'd love to hear about it.  Thanks for visiting & have a great day!  Dee

The Three Amigos

A few weeks ago I scored on a few chairs on CL.  I found a nice Captains chair & two matching dining table chairs.

My Hubby found the two matching ones & wanted to do something different to the cushions. He has been bugging me to do this for weeks. In a word "Burlap". I wasn't thrilled with the idea, but.... after much web surfing on Burlap he finally convinced me.  Here is a picture of the before:

Here is the after

I painted them black & shabbied them up. Then my Mom & I upholstered them.  I added this cool graphic to the cushion.

When we put them all together I think they look pretty snazzy!

At the same time I painted this nice Captains Chair the same shabby black. Here is a picture of the before:

I wanted to do something different with the cushion so I used drop cloth.

Here it is after:

I added a nice graphic from The Graphics Fairy.

I like the way it turned out. It's a little softer looking. Maybe a little more feminine too.

Here are the Three Amigos.  They are available at "V Trading" in Grand Blanc, MI. So my question is,  Do you like the Burlap?  Or, would you stick with the drop cloth?

Thanks for visiting & have a great day!  Dee

On a Personal Note

It has been nearly a month since my last post. I have had a very rough month. My dad lost his battle with cancer on April 3rd. He was very brave through the whole terrible ordeal. He was such a wonderful man. He was my dad, my friend,  he was the one I looked up to & he was one of my biggest fans.

He was so excited when I told him I was going to get a booth at the antique mall right around the corner from his house.  As sick as he was, all he wanted to do was help me get set up. Sadly he never got the chance to see my booth in person. By the time I was all set up, he was to sick to see it with his own eyes.  A week before he passed, I did have him sit down to his computer & had him read my blog & showed him the pictures of some of the pieces I have in my booth.  You could tell he was so proud, even as he struggled for the right words I could tell he was proud of me.

He was always amazed at how I could transform a piece of furniture. He'd always say to me "Oh Honey, that looks beautiful. I don't know how you do it." My Painted Stuff is starting to take off now & I can't help but wonder if he is somehow doing what he can for me from heaven that he wasn't able to do for me before he passed.  I like to think so.

I miss him terribly but I know he's in a better place & he's no longer in any pain. Now when I finish a piece I can still hear his voice telling me how beautiful it turned out & I know he's watching me from heaven.
